Business and Company from a Higher Perspective

How do the concepts of business and company connect to something more sacred, to the spiritual domain? I did an exploration yesterday with ChatGPT and here is a compilation of that conversation.

Spiritual Angle

Essence of Business

At the spiritual level, business can be seen as the exchange of life-force energy.

  • Every act of offering value (a service, a creation, a solution) is a way of circulating your unique essence into the world.
  • Business, then, becomes an expression of your dharma — your path of contribution. When aligned, it isn’t just about profit, but about service, resonance, and flow.

Essence of Company

A company is a sacred container for that flow.

  • It’s like the body that carries the spirit of the business.
  • If the business is breath or Qi, the company is the vessel that holds and channels it.
  • Spiritually, a company can be infused with intention — a kind of soul that reflects the collective of those who created and nurture it.

The Dance

  • Business without Company → is like spirit without body: pure flow, but ungrounded, vulnerable, ephemeral.
  • Company without Business → is like body without spirit: a hollow form, technically alive on paper, but lacking vitality.

Together, they mirror the union of form and essence — yin and yang.

Spiritual Pitfall

  • When the company becomes rigid, it can trap or suffocate the spirit of the business. (Form overtaking essence.)
  • When the business ignores the container, it can become chaotic or dissolve too quickly. (Essence without grounding.)
  • The challenge is integration: honoring both the invisible spirit (purpose, values, energy exchange) and the visible vessel (structure, agreements, governance).

Higher View

At the highest spiritual view:

  • Business = your soul’s way of serving the whole, of saying “This is my gift to the world.”
  • Company = a chosen temple where that gift is nurtured, protected, and multiplied with others.

In other words:

  • Business is the prayer.
  • Company is the altar.
  • Value exchange is the ritual.
  • Alignment is the grace.

Exploring the Fractal

Embracing the Hermetic Principle of Correspondence; As Above, So Below, As Below, So Above. Patterns repeating at different scales, which also aligns with the Universe as a fractal system.

Individual Level

  • Business = your calling, your creative life-force, your dharma expressed as contribution.
  • Company = your body, the vessel that grounds and channels your energy.

Spirit flows through form.

Relational Level (2+ people)

  • Business = the exchange of love, energy, truth between two (or more). What flows when you meet authentically.
  • Company = the relationship itself, the container you create — whether friendship, partnership, family.

The unseen bond (flow) requires a form (trust, agreements, rituals) to hold it.

Organizational Level

  • Business = the value creation, the service, the offering to the world.
  • Company = the formal structure — team, legal entity, agreements, governance.

When aligned, the company body amplifies the spirit of the business rather than constraining it.

Societal Level

  • Business = the exchange of gifts across communities — trade, collaboration, knowledge-sharing.
  • Company = the institutions, cultures, systems that hold and regulate these exchanges.

If society’s containers are rigid, flow stagnates; if too loose, chaos. Harmony is the middle path.

Humanity / Cosmic Level

  • Business = the cosmic dance of energy, universal exchange, giving and receiving across lifeforms.
  • Company = Earth, ecosystems, and humanity as one body, the sacred container for this universal flow.

At this level, we remember: our ultimate business is love, and our ultimate company is the living cosmos.

Fractal Principle

At every scale, business = essence/flow and company = form/container.

The health of the system depends on balance: if form hardens, essence is trapped; if flow ignores form, essence dissipates. True quality arises when spirit and structure dance in harmony.

Feminine and Masculine

Embracing the Hermetic Principle of Gender, that Gender is in everything, that everything has it’s Feminine and Masculine principles, that Gender manifests on all planes

Business as Feminine

  • Flowing, nourishing, relational.
  • Intuitive, receptive, creative.
  • Concerned with life itself — giving, receiving, circulating.
  • Business in its essence is about value as energy (not just money): care, beauty, insight, presence.
  • She is the river — always moving, adapting, giving life to everything along her path.

Company as Masculine

  • Structuring, protecting, holding.
  • Stable, directional, focused.
  • Concerned with form — boundaries, agreements, laws, vessels.
  • Company in its essence is about creating a container so the feminine can flow freely and safely.
  • He is the riverbank — giving shape and guidance, ensuring the river doesn’t lose herself into the desert.

The Sacred Dance

When honored:

  • Feminine business = creativity, abundance, connection.
  • Masculine company = clarity, integrity, groundedness.
  • Together → life-giving flow within a safe vessel.

When dishonored (as in much of today’s world):

  • Masculine over-dominates → company suffocates business, profit > purpose, hollow shells with no life inside.
  • Feminine neglected → business reduced to numbers, energy exchange stripped of soul, creativity exploited or ignored.

Hindu Reframe

  • Business is Shakti.
  • Company is Shiva.
  • Shakti without Shiva = chaotic, dispersed, easily lost.
  • Shiva without Shakti = empty, lifeless, rigid.
  • Only together do they generate wholeness, abundance, and meaning.

The sickness of today is largely a forgetting of this union.

We’ve built endless companies (masculine shells) without honoring the sacred business (feminine flow).

The healing comes by re-sacralizing business — remembering she is not just commerce, but the feminine expression of life-force in exchange — and inviting the masculine to hold her, not control her.

Why, How, What

15 years ago, Simon Sinek made a TED talk titled “How Great Leaders Inspire Action” and wrote a book called “Start with WHY”. As I was contemplating this deeper I saw the connection to the concepts of business and company and their common ground.

Business = the How

  • The flow, the movement, the relationships.
  • Feminine essence: nurturing the way energy circulates.
  • How value is created and exchanged.
  • She cares about the quality of the dance: is it harmonious, life-giving, regenerative?

Company = the What

  • The form, the structure, the vessel.
  • Masculine essence: protecting, holding, embodying.
  • What exists in the world: the product, the service, the agreements.
  • He cares about the clarity of the form: is it stable, trustworthy, resilient?

Both Aligned = the Why

  • The soul of the endeavor, the higher purpose.
  • The union of Shakti (how/flow) and Shiva (what/form).
  • Why it exists: service, contribution, dharma, remembrance.
  • When the why is honored, the business and the company move as one body — spirit embodied in matter.

If the why is forgotten,

  • the what becomes hollow (company chasing profit, identity without life),
  • the how becomes erratic (business flow disconnected from truth, easily hijacked).

When the why is present,

  • the how (feminine flow) and the what (masculine form) become aligned in sacred service.

In short:

  • Business (feminine) = how → flow of value.
  • Company (masculine) = what → form of value.
  • Higher purpose (soul) = why → meaning of value.
